What is The Rooms: Escape Challenge?

It is a first-person escape room puzzle built around finding and using objects. Each level drops you in a sealed room with locks, codes and containers that will not budge until you find the right key or trigger the right clue. You pick up items, examine them, combine them when needed, and use them on the part of the room that matches. Clear the room and you move to the next one. The loop is search, deduce, unlock, repeat.

Controls and clicking around the room

The whole game runs on one input, so it is easy to pick up and plays the same on a touchscreen.

Keys, hidden items and riddles

Progress comes from three things you keep finding in every room: items to collect, locks to open, and riddles that tell you how. A drawer might hide a key, a key opens a box, and the box holds a note with a code for a safe. Read everything you find, because the clue you need is often written down rather than obvious.

There is nothing to install and no sign-up. On desktop it runs in the window or fullscreen, and on phones, tablets and Chromebooks it works through the same page with tap controls.

Tips for getting out faster

Why the room-by-room puzzles work

The fun is the click when a clue finally lands. You stare at a locked box, find a torn note, realize the numbers on it are the combination, and the whole room opens up. Because each level is self-contained, you always know the answer is somewhere in the room with you, which keeps the challenge fair even when it is hard.
